About OARS

Oakland Athletic Rowing Society (OARS) is a rowing club based in Oakland, CA. We welcome athletes from across the Bay Area to join us.

Our belief is that competitive participation in rowing enriches young lives and develops future community leaders.

Our mission is to provide access to competitive rowing & all that this sport teaches to youth in the Bay Area.

We are committed to developing youth into community leaders

Beyond a love for the sport, we aim to develop the character of the young men and women who row with us. Many life lessons are taught through the sport - teamwork, commitment, sportsmanship, leadership, competitiveness and community awareness.

We expect and place emphasis on our rowers excelling not only on the water, but academically at school and socially within our community. As rowing is one of the top recruited sports for college, we strive to prepare our athletes to be ready for the next step in the sport. Contact us now to learn more!

Why OARS?

We strive to provide a balanced program that allows for family, school and social obligations while maximizing our athletic performance.

We keep our coach to athlete ratio among the lowest in our league - allowing us to provide focused, individualized attention to every member of our team.

We strive to make rowing accessible to anyone interested in participating in this sport. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you are interested in this amazing sport. We are a 501c(3) non-profit focused on increasing access to this sport to anyone who wants to participate EIN 81-4329845
